Support Worker - Overnight Sleep

This is a permanent overnight sleep position based in a home in South Bunbury with a 67 hour fortnight roster pattern (7 shifts including 1 weekend a fortnight). For this position we are seeking someone who has swim ability and is willing to enter the pool with customers. Experience in bowel care, dysphagia and epilepsy would also be beneficial, or willingness to be trained.

Please note that for overnight sleep shifts, the sleep period is unpaid and remain at the home in your own private room. 

A typical day in the role may look like:

  • Supporting person-centred plans that identify a customer’s life goals and working to achieve them
  • Joining customers in recreational activities such as swimming, dancing, bingo, horseback riding, going to the gym, bowling and more
  • Supporting customers in daily living skills such as meal preparation, housekeeping, showering and toileting, medication administration and attending appointments
  • Ensuring positive behaviour support plans are followed; and
  • Administration duties and mandatory daily reports.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015 or CHC33021) - ESSENTIAL
  • Swim ability with willingness to enter pool with customers - ESSENTIAL
  • Experience in bowel care, dysphagia and epilepsy - or willingness to train 
  • Previous experience or willingness to train in manual handling and medication administration.
  • Willingness to support customers of any gender by assisting with personal care (showering, toileting) and domestic duties (meal preparation, housekeeping)
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Proven administration and computer literacy skills.
  • A valid driver’s licence and a willingness to use your private vehicle (with rebates available).
